2+2=22

If history has taught us anything about the relationship between humans and machines it is that we depend on each other to exist. Bernard Stiegler had it clear while proposing that the human being is essentially a technical being and this condition of the self is the one that grants us, humans, with the ability to create.

It is clear that ever since we gained daily access to digital tools, mainly after WWII, we’ve found diverse ways of using them. This is particularly important in terms of artistic practices since we’ve been given a series of tools that work as a functional entity inside the capitalist/neo-liberalist system at the same time that they seek to disrupt it. 2+2=22, is an expression which links directly with the way contemporary artists have used technological tools to create.

It is a metaphor on how we can solve the equation through numbers in a visual manner, without losing the content of the symbols. For this proposal, the objective is simple: to create an electric atmosphere that allows the audience to surf through the selected content of SPAMM POWER . The exhibition space is not a limited area since it’s free and open for everyone at the same time that it unfolds inside a creative centre of Winchester School of Arts. It is pertinent to engage younger creators in a dialogue with the artworks presented, and the importance of the shows relies on the curated selection of pieces that represent the current flow of data in terms of the art circuit.

Open atmospheres curated with the irreverent, yet delicate, touch of digital creation > enclosed gallery/museum spaces which reduce the content to illustrating an idea.

For ϟℙ∀ℳℳ▁ℙϴШ€ℜ, we wanted to identify the paths that artists plot on social networks to the convergence of several digital disciplines, to identify the links between the different groups of practices and research, and then to a unit in a set open for this Exhibition to be discovered on the site SPAMM.fr

UFOs of the web, flux electrons, artists and hackers of images and sounds, each figure has its own meaning. Together they form a larger drawing.

Beyond the comfort zones, beyond criticism and confrontations, divergent feelings,

ϟℙ∀ℳℳ lives on the web well before thinking.

ϟℙ∀ℳℳ is an open space that does not contain its boundary.

ϟℙ∀ℳℳ is NO BORDER.

ϟℙ∀ℳℳ is the horizontal space of digital creation•

ϟℙ∀ℳℳ is the multi-faceted core of being in the world.
